Community & Fun: Family Eye Care Shooting Team
Dr. Odum sponsors a shooting team and is a member of the American Optometric Association Sports Vision Section, National Rifle Association, Georgia Sporting Clays Asociation, and National Sporting Clays Association and a Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation sponsor. She enjoys optimizing patients sports' performance by fitting patients in proper contact lens, glasses, or sunglasses for their sport. Dr. Odum is pursuing her own shooting glasses s patent. She also makes custom drill mount shooting glasses - these are her "baby" - and she loves making custom tints.
So what is this sport?
Sporting Clays has been called "playing golf with a shotgun". The reason for this comparison is because shooting a shotgun and hitting a clay target with precision, is just as challenging as, swinging a golf club and hitting a golf ball straight down the fairway.
Moreover, both sports require riding in a golf cart and stopping station-by-station in numbered order. Both courses create new daily obstacles due to outdoor elements such as wind, trees, meadows and waterways. At each station, the shooter is presented with a unique set of target angles and views.
As a shooter improves, he moves up in rank with Master being the highest and Class E being the lowest.
